Exodus 6: God Revealed Himself to Different People and not Just to One

God Revealed Himself to Different People and not Just to One

Exodus 6:1 Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.

Exodus 6:2 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD:

Exodus 6:3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.

Exodus 6:4 And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.

Of course, as you may know, El is the main figure in the Canaanite’s conception of God.

Genesis 14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

Here was a man, Melchizedek, who was not a descendant of Abraham, and was a priest of the most high God.  That is to say that God can, and has, revealed himself to many people all around the world and not just to one group of people.  This is an important point, because if you can’t see God in yourself (no matter who you are), and can only see God in other people, then you will never be able to the reach the heights that God has for you because God has to be reflected in you in order for you achieve them.
