Genesis Chapter 18: Is Any Thing Too Hard for The LORD?

Is Any Thing Too Hard for The LORD?

Abraham waited in the heat of the day, in the door of his tent:

Genesis 18:1 And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;

Genesis 18:2  And he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,

These men of God are offered food and drink by Abraham as they pass through the area where he lives.  He and his wife, Sarah, and their servants prepared them a meal.

Genesis 18:9 And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife?  And he said, Behold, in the tent.

Genesis 18:10 And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah they wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.

Genesis 18:11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.

Genesis 18:12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?

Genesis 18:13 And the LORD said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?

Genesis 18:14 Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

There are many things that happen in this chapter, but the most important life lesson is right here, “Is any thing too hard for the LORD?”  You should take some time to meditate on this lesson because many times things will come up in your life that are difficult and you will have to find your miracle that may not look like the miracle you expect.

I was telling my son this exact message earlier, today.  When I was in labor with him, I didn’t feel the pain that normally comes along with the delivery, after a certain point—after they gave me an epidural.  This was my first child, so I didn’t know what to expect and after having a few complications, I was forced to stay in the hospital for 34 hours before having him.  The nurse encouraged me to do an exercise where I tucked my chin to my chest and curled up my body, toward my knees, with my knees bent.  I thought this was ridiculous, at first, because I didn’t feel anything but a slight pressure.  This wasn’t like what I imagined it would be, I could hear a woman part of the time, next door, screaming, “Jesus! Jesus!”, she was in extreme pain.  That’s what I imagined it would be like, but to experience my miracle without extreme pain and by tucking my chin toward my chest, was not what I imagined it would be.

That’s just it.  Your miracle is not somebody else’s miracle, it’s your own.  It’s a miracle and it comes from God, remember: “Is any thing too hard for God?”
